AOC Fundamentals Course Practice Test

The key idea is how space and air operations are integrated within a joint command. The Space Component Authority plans and coordinates space operations within the operational area to support the Joint Force Air Component Commander’s air operations. In practice, this means the SCA develops space-based options, ensures space assets align with the air plan, and coordinates how satellites, space ISR, and space-based communications contribute to the air tasking and execution.

The day-to-day execution of these space efforts is handled by the Director of Space Forces (DIRSPACEFOR), who implements and manages space operations on the battlefield, working to keep space support synchronized with the JFACC’s ongoing air operations.

Why the other options don’t fit: ground operations are led by ground or land components, not the space authority; weather forecasts are the domain of meteorological support rather than space operations; and logistics is a separate sustainment function, not the primary responsibility of the Space Component Authority.

So, the statement describing the SCA planning and coordinating space ops to support the JFACC, with the DIRSPACEFOR executing daily responsibilities, best captures the relationship.
